LOST: The End.

24 May

Throughout LOST, there were constantly unanswered questions hanger over the viewers head. There were always new issues brought up. It was the one show on television where even the slightest move could be analyzed. Did some random stranger walk by? Oh, they must be really important. If someone did any basic task on any other show, it would be ignored. But LOST had the power of making the viewer analyze every detail. And in the finale last night, clearly every little detail could not be answered. But they didn’t answer a lot of the big questions either. A lot is up for interpretation, that’s the only sure thing we know. The show did manage to bring the larger picture of the characters together at the end, which was nice. So now, there is no more LOST. It is over. So sad. At least the show will live on in repeats and online and in discussions. I truly believe this was a unique show different from any other, and I will miss it.

Changing of the nets

12 May

The Nets have officially been sold to Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. Now I usually don’t associate the name Mikhail with good things mainly because he’s the creepy guy from Lost who couldn’t die. But I think this Mikhail will be better for the Nets. New owner, new coach (whoever that will be), new arena (Newark until Brooklyn) and new players. There better be new players. I’m thinking the Nets can go from horrendous to just plain bad next year. Maybe the draft will do us well and we can find Jason Kidd 2.0, the best thing to ever happen to the Nets franchise. At the very least, there will be plenty of new stuff going on. Maybe new will be better. Maybe.

Nostalgia, much?

I used to watch CSI: Miami and CSI: NY and think to myself, ‘this is so unrealistic.’ And that was why is was so good. But with the recent Times Square bombing incident, I feel like I’m reading an episode of CSI. Props to the producers of CSI for being so spot on. The current situation in NY is eerily similar to one of CSI’s plots. You find one suspect, which leads you to another, and then bam! You have your guy. Now obviously a television show is very different from this real life situation. I just figured I’d note the similarities.

In any stage of life, you are always looking up to people. Whether it is work, school, activities, whatever. You are always (or at least most of the time) aspiring to get to that higher level. In high school, one of the areas that where I looked up to people was college. I thought, ‘How do they do it? How do they manage a year?’ Well, I’ve done just that. Now I’m staring at my walls in my room that are getting whiter by the day with the posters I’m taking down. One year down, three to go. Not too bad.

I feel like I talk about LOST a lot here. But it is because the show deserves the attention. I cannot believe there are only three more episodes left of the entire show. Although the show began in 2004, I started watching it in 2006 and was “forced” to catch up quickly. I can’t believe it’s been on so long. The longest show (minus American Idol and Bachelor which are reality shows) that I have ever watched. They’re doing something right.

If you’ve read this far, then you deserve to read something about sports. So here it is: ummmm. Exactly. Nada. Mets lost. And that’s a wrap, folks! Have a nice day!

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

2 Feb

Yes, the title deserves caps. There is only one show that deserves capital letters. LOST. Tonight, the season six premiere and final season of LOST begins. There is no show that can compare to LOST. I don’t have many favorites, but LOST is certainly my favorite tv show. And I don’t get obsessive over things like Harry Potter and such, but I am that way with LOST. The show has transformed shows like no other ever has. It is its own genre: greatness. I don’t care what people say about it. The show has been doing something right. It is an indescribable phenomenon that is too difficult to explain. You would need five years to explain it. Hopefully, we will find out as much as we can in this final season. There are so many memories spread out since 2004. Let’s hope that season 6 doesn’t disappoint. But I know it won’t.

It’s been a while…

26 Oct

The world has returned to normal. No, the economy is not fixed. No, Britney isn’t back. Well wait, maybe she is. Anyways, the reason why there is peace on earth (or lack thereof actually) is the Yankees. They are back in the World Series, a place where they annually belonged for much of my early childhood. It has been a long six years, full of collapses (2004) and messes (2008). 2003 was the last time the Yankees were in a World Series and 2000 was the last time they won a World Series. Let’s look back at 2003, the last time they were in the position they are in now. I was in 6th/7th grade, and didn’t even know who Josh Beckett was. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won best picture for 2003, with the event being held a year later. We went to war with Iraq (some things haven’t changed). Ohio State beat Miami for the title in college football. The Bucaneers beat the Raiders (some things have changed) in the Super bowl. And the Spurs beat my beloved Nets in the NBA Finals. LOST had not yet started. The human genome project was completed. Vancouver was announced as the host for next year’s Winter Olympics. Arnold Schwarzenegger was declared governor of CA. Technology was pitiful compared to how it is nowadays. There was no twitter and (gasp!) no Facebook. The first “Pirates” movie came out, along with 50 First Dates, The Passion of the Christ, Kill Bill, Holes, Finding Nemo (he was found), Freaky Friday (when Lindsay Lohan was normal), School of Rock, Bruce Almighty, Elf, The Matrix Reloaded, and Scary Movie 3 (This year had some good movies! And some not so hot ones too). That’s all I’m going to talk about 2003, because after all, it was only six years ago.

The (tv) starting lineup

7 Sep

I just looked at the fall tv schedule, and it doesn’t look all that great. In years past, there has been great excitement over various series and season premieres. This year’s lineup features a bunch of new shows, and some old. But the old ones are either fading fast (i.e. Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill) or not popular to begin with. I just counted five shows that I plan on watching this fall. Three are new and two are returning. There are various other shows that I have simply stopped watching all together. I have to commend CW for winning my attention this fall. I’m coming back for a second season of the hate-it or love-it 90210 and the Lucas/Peyton-less One Tree Hill. I could see OTH slipping, but I expect 90210 to keep my attention. I figure to watch the spin-off Melrose Place, considering it looks semi-interesting and it’s on after the similar 90210. I also plan to watch the uplifting Glee, which many of us caught for one episode last May on FOX. Let’s hope it doesn’t let down. And as of now I also plan on catching the new show on ABC called ‘Flashforward.’ Since the best show ever (no bias there, right?) LOST won’t be starting its final season until January, I plan on watching this show in hopes that it will remind me of LOST. So those are my five. They will turn to (gasp!) seven with the January premieres of LOST and The Bachelor (woo). At that point, I have no allegiances, and any of these five could be dropped. And you can’t forget reality shows, but I don’t set my own time aside for nonsense. If Real World, The City or The Hills are on while I’m watching tv, then sure I may watch. And don’t forget the Kardashians. They’re always on. 🙂 And then there is the ongoing show that never stops: SportsCenter. Always reliable. And there’s not much reliability we can count on these days, right?

Why LOST makes me lost

30 Apr

It’s a known fact: the television show LOST is not an easy one to follow. I always say that it will take them five more seasons to provide answers to the questions they have made these past five seasons. Since I am currently two episodes behind, who the heck knows what I have missed. A lot. That’s all I can guess–and about the only thing I can guess with this show. I personally think that this is the best show ever. No other show works like it. I can’t even explain what kind of  show LOST is, and I couldn’t even tell you to go watch it. You wouldn’t understand it unless you start at the beginning. There are too many questions, and I don’t want to mention any of them, because so many are significant and it would take me hours to discuss just one.

People say the show is too confusing, and they stop watching it. Those people are not true fans. LOST is always good, always keeps you intrigued. The writers are freaking geniuses, if only they could start providing us with more answers.

Compared to the other shows I watch, which I will not name because they are a fleck of dust compared to the moth ball of LOST, are in ten million leagues below LOST. As confusing as LOST is-(see, I have failed to mention any plot summary because I don’t even want to get into it), it is equally amazing. Those 43 minute episodes are hours where I don’t mind being “lost.”
